Cost effective, non-chloride accelerating and water reducing liquid. Complies with ASTM C-494 Type E specifications.

 ACCELERATING & PLASTICIZING ADMIXTURE- NON-CHLORIDE

Specco A-40 is a non-chloride accelerator and water reducing admixture for concrete, that reduces the setting time of the mix, increases strength development, reduces bleeding and segregation and improves workability. A-40 also provides rust protection for all iron rebar. A-40 can be used to accelerate ready mix, mobile mix, block, precast, prestressed, lightweight concrete, mortars and grouts.

BENEFITS:

  • Cost effective option verses other types of non-chloride based accelerators.
  • Reduces set times.
  • Improves workability.
  • Increases strength development in Portland cement mixes at crucial early stages.
  • Can be used for integrally colored concrete or mortar mixes with no changes to color hue.

COMPOSITION: A solution of non-chloride, rust-inhibiting accelerators and superplasticizers. A-40 does not contain any calcium chloride or intentionally added chlorides that would initiate or promote corrosion of reinforcement steel, or contribute to efflorescence.

TECHNICAL DATA: Specco A-40 Accelerator is formulated to comply with ASTM C-494 Type C and E guidelines.

DOSAGE: Specco A-40 is typically dosed at 16-32 oz. per 100 lbs. of cement (1040-2080 ml/100 kg) for most applications. The dosage can be increased as needed to accelerate the setting time and both early and ultimate strength gain, or if colder application temperatures are present. Specco recommends a field test or trial mix be run in order to determine the optimum dosage needed for set time and rate of strength gain requirements. The dosage will vary with jobsite temperatures and air movement, concrete temperature and mass; mix design components or other admixtures, as well as heat, insulation, or windbreak protective measures used.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Specco A-40 Accelerator must be added to the batch water and aggregates. Do not add A-40 to dry cement. A-40 Accelerator contains a high range water reducer that reduces water requirements approximately 5% to 7%. When used to protect concrete from freezing, dosage will vary with different types of cement and ambient temperatures.
